Study camps are a great way to get ahead in HSC PDHPE and the HSC in general. Study camps, however, are underutilised as a resource or the HSC. I still remember the study camp I went on in year 12 when I completed my HSC. Before the study camp, I was averaging just over a pass in all my subjects… After the study camp, my marks went up to over 80% for each subject and my study had never been so effective.

Here are the reasons I believe every HSC PDHPE student should go on a study camp, and why I think the earlier the study camp, the better.

Study Camps help organisation

That’s right, possibly the best thing I got out of my study camp, was exactly how much study I could fit in a day easily and still have enough time to train, socialise and enjoy life. While on study camps, there is normally a mandatory 6 hours of study a day, with a bunch of extra activities thrown in for the fun of it and to help develop relationships. I remember after my study camp, which I attended in the July holidays, I missed out on the October study camps, so I ran my own study camp at my house. I managed to fit in an easy 10 hours of study on the camp I ran, but more importantly, we still had fun.

HSC Study CampsFurther to this, I also was able to better structure my study time after the study camp. I arranged to complete 3 hours of study a day on top of school, training, and going out with my friends on the weekends. I wish I had of attended the study camp earlier so that my study schedule could have a greater impact on my final result.

Study Camps provide a network

Study camps provide the opportunity for you to develop a network to help you succeed in HSC PDHPE. Not only will you meet other students doing their HSC and studying PDHPE, but you will also connect with experienced teachers. These networks are vital. They provide you will access to other school materials and study notes as well as hearing the content explained and applied differently. Hopefully, this will help you to understand it. You may also find that on the study camps there are opportunities for you to help other HSC PDHPE students. This could be by explaining content to them, helping them apply the information or simply sharing your notes with other. Either way, study camps develop networks for HSC PDHPE that will help you succeed.

Study Camps provide a break

Study camps get you out of the house and away from the family. Whether this is a nagging parent or a pesky sibling, or simply the distractions of TV and the internet. Getting out of the house can be a great way to get quality study done. Study camps, not only get you away from distractions, they also provide structured breaks with outdoor activities or indoor activities, depending on the study camp you select to attend.

Study Camps study!!

Most importantly study camps provide an opportunity to get a mammoth of study completed. If you are behind on notes or even want to get ahead on your notes, a study camp can provide you with the opportunity to get a leg up on the majority of your competition in the HSC. Study camps will provide a minimum of 6 hours study during the camp and often have slots for some extra work to get done. If you start now and enrol in a study camp, you will be in a good position come next year. If you can convince your parents to go on more than one, go to as many as possible and watch your study hours go up. Often these camps have subject specialists at them, so complete your HSC PDHPE summaries or flashcards. You could even purchase our summaries and flashcards from the shop to spend more time learning the flashcards, testing yourself and completing some exam answers and get some feedback from another HSC PDHPE teacher, to get that broader perspective on your work.

So… what are you waiting for?!? Enrol in a HSC Study Camp now!! I recommend the Crusaders HSC Study Camps, and the  Anglican Youth Works HSC Study Camps.
