As your final term of school begins you should be spending much of your time preparing for your HSC PDHPE trial exam. Your trial is likely to be worth around 30% of your submitted school grade and can often seem daunting. Trial exams are often the most difficult exams you will do in your HSC.

This is because you have possibly not even finished the content yet, or maybe you have finished it but only just before your trials begin. This means you have less time to prepare for your HSC PDHPE trial exam. You have done less study and have only really just heard of some of this content.

So, how should you spend the little time you have between now and your exams to make sure you are as prepared as possible for your HSC PDHPE trial exam? The answer to this question really depends on how much time you have. Some of you will have exams next week, while others may still have 5 weeks before your trials role in. So let me break it up for you in reverse.

In the last week before your trial, you should be doing as many practice HSC PDHPE exam papers as possible. And of course, this goes for your other subjects as well. If you have a study group, use them to get feedback on your exams, and provide feedback for them. Really you should have been doing this consistently throughout the year completing practice questions and seeking feedback, but now is the time to up the effort and complete whole past papers in one sitting (3 hrs).

In the second last week, you should prioritise making sure you have a solid knowledge of the content. You can do this by running through your flashcards (if you don’t have any buy mine) and make sure you know what could be asked in the exam. I would recommend going through your flashcards every day this week and go through them until you get each of the cards correct.

In every other week, you should be finishing off your summaries and flashcards and making sure you have an easily navigatable chunk of information for quick reference later when you get stuck on something you can’t write remember. You should also begin to complete practice questions for the stuff you learnt last year and submit it to your teacher or study partner to get feedback (remember this is the critical bit).

If you happen to have forgotten to study or decided that you would leave it to the night before, your best bet is to read through past papers and their sample answers. This is possibly the only chance you have!!
