As your first term for HSC PDHPE wraps up in the last weeks, what should you do? Many students turn off in class in the last weeks leading into Christmas, but this is not the time to relax… not yet.

Last Weeks Summaries

The first thing you want to ensure you do in the last weeks of term is to make sure your summaries are complete for the term. With any luck, you have finished your first topic (or about to). So, you should now take some time and make sure that your summaries are done (or purchase mine for FAP or HPIA). Maybe create some flashcards (or buy mine for FAP or HPIA), design some mind-maps to go on your wall over the holidays. Remember to make your summaries, brief, neat, and colourful (more info on writing summaries and flashcards).

Last Weeks HSC Questions

The last weeks are a great time to load your teacher up with some past HSC PDHPE exam questions for your topic. Believe it or not, your teacher is also winding down and is beginning to run out of work to do (hopefully), so giving them a bunch of practice questions in these last weeks should result in some good and fast feedback. Remember to replicate HSC PDHPE exam like situations and to fix up your answers after you get your feedback (for more information on past papers click here).

Plan Ahead of the Last Weeks

In the last weeks, you may also benefit by planning your holidays out. I know you don’t want to, but if you do not do some form of study to continue to refresh your memory, you will forget much of what you worked so hard learning this term. So, in the last few weeks, pick a day a week to quickly read over your summaries (or mine on FAP or HPIA), or, better yet, go through your flashcards (or mine on FAP or HPIA). This will keep the information in your brain accessible so that you don’t have to relearn everything next year.

So in these last weeks, make sure you are not just sitting around playing games, watching movies or just not listening to your teacher. Take advantage of the slow down in work pace and complete your HSC PDHPE summaries, do some HSC PDHPE past exam questions, and plan your study sessions in the holidays in these last weeks of term.
